Question:

Why did many revolutions in europe fail?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Prior to the French Revolution, the majority of people had a poor understanding of politics and faced many barriers in communicating with each other. For instance, most peasants couldn't read - they had to rely on word of mouth for their news, which not only tended to become highly distorted, but it often arrived too late. The many jacqueries in France all failed due to a lack of organization, poor communications, poor weapons (pitchforks against armored knights), no military training and so on. In Germany the Peasant's War of 1524 was indirectly inspired by Martin Luther, who then betrayed the peasants by publishing vitriolic pamphlets urging the lords to slaughter and slay at will. The peasants had little support from the other classes in most cases.
