Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I have read the book a number of times at different ages of my life. Each time I found it a generally good read and saw it differently each time. Each time was a different reading experience.
So I think it is worth reading because it is a benchmark in American writing and I think the author catches a moment in a young man's life that every young man can identify. It touches you.
As you age and become more mature it touches you in a different way for different reasons. How many books can do that?
I can think of one other modern book, Rabbit Run, John Updike, that has the same ability of being different at each age you read it.
For me it is pretty cool to read a book at 17,23,30, 40 and have it still be interesting in a very different way.
