Question:

Q for artist?

I sometimes like to sketch scenery pix and the whole grey and white is getting a bit boring so I was wondering if there are kinds of lead or graphite that come in sepia tones? if so where can I get them? thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well if I was you, I would start experimenting with colored pencils. Colored pencils can give your picture a lot of more character... and brightness

Now, do you know how to "shade"? If so, practice with colored pencil. You know what I mean? Like if you're coloring a red T-shirt, then find your light sorce? Where's it coming from? If its coming from up top, then of course the shirt will be a lighter red on top, and gradually get darker on the bottom. And don't forget to shade with detail also... shirts have rinkles, etc. So shade those in as well.

Now, when you do trees and other bushes. Don't just use one or two types of greens. Use all sorts of greens. I usually use around four, but for more complex trees, you can use five or even six shades of green. Highlight goes on top... so first apply the dark shades of green. And don't be afraid to mix different types of drawing items... like ink and color pencil.

good luck, and if you need more help, just go to my profile and email me, I'd be glad to help!

oh, and have you tried charcoal? That's a lot of fun too, but you have to be pretty good at drawing first...
