The Sons of Liberty and other 'patriots' of John Adams were
better suited for arson, assault, battery, drunk in public, rape,
and sundry other civil disorder outside the class concerns of
landed gentlemen of quality like George Washington. More
patriots would die before the idea of a National Army and who might lead it evolved; this dying of patriots served the agreed interests of George Washington more than any other.
