Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Depends, but let me give you some terminology:
protagonist -- main character who undergoes a change -- NOT simply "the hero"
antagonist -- goes up against the protagoinist.
flat -- only see one side of the character (vs. round)
static -- doesn't change throughout (vs. dynamic)
stereotype -- false assumptions about an entire class put into one character (all tourists are Japanese with Haaiian shirts and cameras around their necks, etc)
