Question:

Heartless poem...?

This is a poem I wrote after reading a short story about a girl who had cast a spell and bewitched her heart into her finger bone. Then she cut off her finger and strung onto a chain that hung around her neck so that she would stay alive. But finding that she was completely numb without her heart, she decided to eat the finger bone and in that way put her heart back into her body. I know, weird. But it was a good story. Please comment on the poem...

Heartless

I closed my eyes
And realized
The death then in my heart
I had had the words
The right words
To kill myself in part
And so my soul
My very soul
Hung there around my neck
One snap or crack
And down I??d go
To the catacombs of death
So I hid it so
The world couldn??t see
The bone strung on a chain
But then I found
I had no choice
But to change my sorry fate
So I took the chain
And then the finger bone I ate
The spell unwound
And then I found
A beat there in my breast
