Question:

A question about Tim Winton.?

I have just been reading my first Tim Winton (The Turning) and am finding it very depressing. Should I persevere with his other novels or are they all in this vein?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If you want depressing - check out The Riders! Woo-ooo does that one get you down!
Cloudstreet - somewhat depressing
That Eye the Sky - DEPRESSING
Lochie Leonard Human Torpedo - not that bad.
Dirt Music - got a lot better after I stopped reading it a third of the way through.

So yeah - while the quality of his writing is magnificent and few would dispute that I have always found his books so weighty and laden with atmospheres of angst that I am unlikely to choose them over other titles.
