Were there other ideas for the location of founding the new jewish state after WWII?

I heard the current location wasn't the only idea, what were the others if there were? was the site of ancient Israel chosen due to religious purpouses?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Other suggestions floated included large but mainly unpopulated areas, including Madagascar and Alaska - no, I'm not kidding! The British suggested the former and though the Germans might agree to it. Therer were mambers of Roosevelts cabinent advocating the latter.
