What do you think of Lewis Carroll? In the past year or two he has become one of my favorite authors. I have heard quite often about how people think he did drugs to write some of his books, but I think it easily could have just been a creative mind. Some people seem to think that you need drugs to have an imagination, which I strongly disagree with.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: while I don't know if he really did drugs or not, it isn't unlikely. No, you do not need them for inspiration but a lot of famous authors wrote under the influence. The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe was written while he was on an acid trip.
