Question:

The titanic?

If the titanic had made it, how long would the journey have taken?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Titanic was meant to have week-long trips along with her two Olympic-class sister ships (The Olympic and Brittanic) so that White Star could have a ship going from the U.S. to England and England to the U.S. at the same time, every week. The third Olympic class ship would be docked in either New York or England, getting ready for the next voyage.

Because Titanic started out on Wendesday, April 10th, 1912 at high noon, everyone was expecting her to arrive sometime on Wendesday, April 17th, 1912. However, because speed was important in those days, White Star wanted to show that their ships were reasonably fast, so Titanic may have made it to New York late at night on Tuesday, April 16th. They could have made it under a week if they really wanted to. (They were planning on lighting the last boilers on Monday morning.)

Note: Even though White Star wanted to show that Titanic was fast, they were not trying to break any speed records, the competing ships, the Lusitania and Mauritania were incredibly fast, (26 knots), the Titanic had a top speed of 23 knots, and only wanted to show that their ships were very luxurious, and reasonably fast.
