Question:

I have a theory about harry potter?

so we know that voldemort has split his soul up into 7 pieces in his quest for immortality, and made seven horcruxes. according to dumbledore, by splitting his soul into so many pieces he has become weaker.

albus dumbledore said that lord voldemort failed to understand the power of love. we also know that lord voldemort failed to kill harry because his mother (and father?) died defending him. when lord volemort returns, he takes some of harry's blood so that he could have the same protection, and so that he could kill harry. [book 4]

well since harry's parents died, two other parent-figures have also died: sirius black and albus dumbledore. is it possible that they are giving harry the same protection his parents did when they died? so if lord voldemort tries to kill harry again, he won't be able to because he only has the blood taken after harry's parents died, but not after sirius and dumbledore died.

voldemort did not die the first time he tried to kill harry. could it be that he can only die when the number of people close to harry who have died equals the number of horcruxes that voldemort has made for himself? that would mean that at least six people would have to die (remember that although voldemort's soul is split into seven pieces, he only has six horcruxes because the seventh piece of soul is where his body is).

so far four people close to harry have died: mom, dad, sirius, and dumbledore. he needs two (or three?) more people to die to defeat dumbledore.

judging by the pattern of parent-figures who have died, i am trying to figure out who is next. here is a list of who i suspect may die:

mrs. weasley, because she was always very motherly towards him and treated him like her own son (or perhaps her and arthur weasley?).

.

ron and/or hermione may die for the love of their friend.

aunt petunia. although she doesn't seem like it, the last few books reveal that she may actually love harry.

hagrid has also been very close to harry since book 1

professor mcgonagall. although very stern, she cares for harry very deeply.

what do you think of this theory? do you have any additional thoughts you would like to add?

so basically the question is, do you think seven parts of love can defeat the seven horcruxes?

("anti-horcruxes")

i made a mistake above...i said die to defeat dumbledore...i meant voldemort, sorry!

eliz : i forgot to put lupin above, but i agree that it could be him. thanks!

oh yeah. i wonder if the fact that two horcruxes (riddle's diary & marvolo's ring) have already been destroyed is would change anything (if my theory is correct).

sparkling, hermione, travis, and other supporters - thanks! :)

those that disagree - you have every right to disagree, and perhaps you are correct to do so.

let's just wait until the book comes out.
