Position:Home>General - Arts & Humanities > Does the name Dante have an è on the end, or is it just an e?

Question:I've been trying to figure this out, but I can't find it anywhere. Everywhere I look, I see that it is just Dante with a normal e, but the name Dontè (which comes from Dante) has an è on the end. So I'm really unsure. Does anyone know?

depends on which country you are in
either or iether
No, there is no accent on the last e of Dante. I have a degree in Italian. If there were an accent one would put the stress on the last syllable and one doesn't!
HEY* My son is named Dante, actually I named him Arthur Danteveous and when he started school the teachers shortened his name to Dante and yes, they always added an accent mark on the e. I also taught him to add the accent mark. Thought it was kinda cool. He's twenty-seven now and he's beautiful. He matches his name and the accent is still there.
Crickette
however which way.. if it is yours. but if it is someone else's name, you really have to be sure. it's annoying when our name is misspelled, right?
