Question:

Could I put a floy rose whammy bar on a gibson SG?

It'll destroy the value of the guitar completely, it'll be ugly as sin, and every time you pull it out people will say, "Damn, why did you do that?"

Also, you'll have to nix the tune-o-matic bridge completely so the trem itself will always appear to be in the wrong place. It won't be where the tailpiece is, it'll be all the way up where the bridge is.

I do not recommend it at all. What I would recommend would be a Les Trem tailpiece. You can't divebomb with them, but they require no modification at all and provide a smooth, Jazzmaster like tremolo.

Floyds suck anyway, TremKing is the new hawtness. You break a string, the whole guitar goes out of tune. You pretty much have to place a locking nut on the guitar or it'll go out of tune just by touching the damn thing.

I do not recommend altering a Gibson. You want a Floyd, get a Dean, Jackson, ESP, or something. DO NOT PUT A FLOYD ROSE ON AN SG!!! Sg's are great guitars, Floyd Rose's are great bridges, they just don't belong together. First, you'll have to plough a big hole right through the body of the guitar and another almost all the way through on the back. Taking away that much mass will mess up the sound. If the SG is inexpensive and in bad shape you can mess around with it but I recommend either selling it and buying another guitar with a different tremelo system (if that's what you are looking for) or just treat it with respect.
