Research how the newspaper publisher, Willian Randolph Hearst, esentially did his best to start and promote the Spanish American War in the 19th century. It was rumored (although never proved) that he actually engineered the sinking of the American Battleship, Maine, in Havan harbor, which so enraged Americans, that they insisted our government declare war on Spain. The most recent and obvious examples are the Al Quaeda videos of Osama bin laden declaring a holy war on the western world. Also, those videos that some of the hijackers made prior to 9/11 are good examples where they talk about how good it will be to die for their "cause" (and other suicide bombers who make similar videos before them blow themselves up.)
