JEWELERS I want to know if gold easily scratches freshwater pearls...?

I would think so cause pearls are fairly soft yet I see pearls with gold and even diamond roundels next to them. How careful do I have to be in making pearl jewelry with 14K gold?I'm just worried about the gold wire pin scratching the sides of the pearl
