My grandmother. She nursed her own mother through cancer, qualified as a teacher, went with her pupils who were evacuated during the war and ran all sorts of clubs and classes for them while they were away, then she specialised throughout her career in teaching children who'd been ruled "unteachable" by everyone else. This was before special needs units existed. After she retired she worked for Oxfam and Victims Support. She always treated everyone absolutely equally. Even now, with severe dementia and no memory of most of the things she's achieved, she's almost always cheerful, thankful and sunny.
