this isnt exactly the type of tale the newyorker would publish, its a brutal, old school style pulp western. i am just wondering if anyone knows of any types of magazines that would pulish it.

Writers Digest publishes an annual Writer's Market book. Go to your local library (or bookstore) and browse through the 2007 "Novel & Short Story Writer's Market." It lists magazines, what they publish, what they pay, and how to get submission guidelines. Good luck.
