Question:

I love to write, but lately I can't?

While I'm not a professional writer, I enjoy writing fiction and fantasy. Back when I was still in high school, I wrote every second I had an opportunity (when I had no homework anyway). I would even write when the teacher was talking some times.

Today I'm a freshman in college. The last time I wrote for pleasure and for my books was back in June. I post fanfiction on mediaminer.org, and my last post was pretty much the last time I wrote for fun. Now every time I want to write, I procrastinate and find myself with a mental block. What can I do to get myself inspired again?

I also love to write as a way to channel my emotions, and I can relate to your situation in every way. I have two suggestions that should help you overcome your block and bring you closer to becoming Hemingway.

1. Find yourself a special place to write. Although I carry a notebook everywhere I go, I know that if I want to write at a particular time I give myself the best chance by going to my special places. For me, my places are my closet and my rooftop. You need to find a place where you feel comfortable and inspired, but not distracted.

2. Carry a notebook EVERYWHERE. You never know when you will be inspired by something you see or hear. Or if you are like me you do your best writing when you are feeling extremely angry, sad or happy. If you have a notebook with you at all times you will be able to take advantage of these sights, sounds and feelings.
