Question:

Controversial sculpture?

Homework. What's the most controversial piece of sculpture (large or small) you can think of please?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Rachel Whitereads 'House' - she filled a house with concrete (the last one standing in a demolished row) and then pulled the walls from it to reveal a concrete scultpure of the space 'within' the house.
nice piece but very contoversial at the time for some reason.

Frank H down there is right, Carl Andres piece consisting of fire bricks in a rectangle called 'Equivalent VIII' was extremely controvertial (when the Tate bought it in the late 70s or early 80s i think) possibly THE most controversial - people still refer to 'the bricks' as a by word for what is seen as the 'Emperors new clothes' syndrome of 'modern art'. BUT I would argue that it is an 'installation' rather than a scultpure, although admittedly its a very blurry line between these definitions
