What is useful art to you?

A painting hangs on a wall, a sculpture sits on a table may at first glance appear to only be decorative yet most artists have a purpose, an idea driving their work. They're bringing ideas to the table, challenging you to think a little differently but this doesn't always translate through their art to the audience. Given our visual bias, what do you consider useful art?

something that has elegently combined form and function. Pottery is one example. I have a beautiful pitcher that I use regularly.
