If you go to your local newspaper, or actually LOOK in a magazine, there are notifications about contests. Usually, the newspaper has many opportunities for writing, you just type in their website (usually it's printed on the paper) or write them about notifications about contests and they will tell you. If you are still in school, there are state and country wide contest that you can enter, just ask your English teacher.
