They are too far away from the problems and issues we care about today."?

the problems and issues might be different, but the sentiment, the empathy, and the reasons behind these problems and issues might be the same. we haven't evolved as human beings that much. we're still clinging to ancient attitudes of love and hate, benevolence and malice. i guess if you can understand the root of these problems, it might bring insight to our present condition. although i hate the cliche, some things in history do repeat themselves.
