Question:

Philosphical or Poetic texts on Nature?

I'm writing a dissertation and one of the main points I am seeking to discuss in relation to a painting that I am writing about is about Nature, the poetic of nature and of ruins, the balance between nature and civilisation etc. I was wondering if anyone knows any texts (or painted works) which express this idea, particularly philisophical ones (Rousseau would be ideal, as would any other French philosophers from the enlightenment, particularly predating 1800, but anything else is great too) or poetic ones? Any help would be much appreciated.

Try Wordsworth or D H Lawrence. You should find something there.
