Question:

Where can I get a copy of the last rites?

Hi to all, :) I need to get a copy of the last rites for my friends mom,as she needs to give last rites to a family friend tomorrow. I have google searched and gotten some feed back. Mostly, that it no longer is called the last rites but it is the annointing of the sick, which can be given when the person that is ill or dying is still alive. However, as far as what the actual last rites may contain,Does anyone have any information?...please let me know...thanks :)

Ok. My moms friend is an ordained minister. so I'm going to re word the question...what are the words used while performing last rites? Also, did not want to get into big discussion on their family friend, But the surgery he is about to undergo apparently doesn't have a very good outlook. So lets just say they are prepared. I was just merely trying to help her out. Perhaps you could also give me some things to say for a eulogy . I think because of the closeness of the friend she's maybe drawing a blank right now...thanks again...Have a Happy Easter...

like the above person said. last rites are one of the sacraments and a priest will usually only give someone their last rites on their death bed from my understanding. not when they are just ill or dying. but, yeah. you should be able to get a priest to come out and help your mom's friend. if that is the case, my condolences.
