How do I tell my boss I want to quit?

Ok, here's the thing. I need to go on short term disability first because of my upcoming surgery. After that though, I do not want to go back to the office. I want to quit afterwards. There is no penalty for doing that according to HR, but how do I break it to her that I will not come back after disability? She has been really good to me and so has the company. My gripe is just that the location is no good and that the salary cap is just too low.

my advice is that go on your leave... and then once your fully recovered (make sure your get paid until then) give you notice period.. inform your boss, that you were offered an alternative salary. And even though you really like her and the work, you are not able to refuse such a fantastic oppurtunity...

you never know you might even get a raise.. if nto worst case you quit your job on a really nice term..

can also say that after the operationit has made you realize, that you needed to be much closer to home...
