Question:

Jazz Sheet Music for Alto recorder?

I'm thinking that the Alto recorder might make a good jazz instrument - but I will admit I dont know that much about it - I just started playing, but I'm already bored with the Baroque (boring!) music.....
The alto recorder is an "F" instrument.....are there any jazz instruments in that same range?
Lemme know, I'd like to get some sheet music and see if I could play it....but I dont know anything about Jazz instruments.
Thanks a bunch

The only other instruments in F are the English horn, French horn, and Basset-horn. Also a very weird kind of saxophone called the mezzo-sporano. Pretty much no jazz music is written for those instruments. There are some -- but not many -- jazz recordings that incorporate the French horn, but I wouldn't expect to find sheet music for it.

Your best bet is to buy music for Alto Sax and then transpose. Make every note a full step lower than what you see on the page. If you're not playing with anyone, then don't bother transposing. It won't really matter that the music is a step higher than it's intended to be; it will still sound ok.
