Just make sure it's not a scam... there are actually a lot of poetry scams in which everyone who enters automatically gets published (although they don't tell you that... they make it quite special ;)) and then, in order to get a copy of your book, you have to buy it from them for god knows how much. They there are about five hundred awards you win but you have to pay for those too, etc etc. :P Happened to my boyfriend when he was little and he's still bitter about it. XD

Of course, for a kid, it's a nice confidence booster either way. ;) As long as their parents don't traumatizing them by telling them the truth like my boyfriend's did. <3 XD
