The first most important part is RELAX. If you're tense then the laryngal muscles tighten up which raises the pitch to the top of your range. Secondly, gain control of your your larnyx, feel it slide up and down as you raise and lower your voice. What you want to do is purposely lower your larnyx and this lowers the pitch of your voice which should help eliminate spueaking and cracking.
