Question:

Romeoand Juliet help?

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet."

How is this quote significant and how does it tie into the play? It is the one part that while I sort of understand it, I never am fully capable of comrehending it.

Well, you see, the Montague's and the Capulets (I think that was their names) were in this big fued that had lasted so long nobody remembered what it was really about. Romeo and Juliette were smitten with each other, but they knew it wasn't going to work out because they were from families that were basically at war with each other. So they were trying to convince themselves that it was okay to love each other even though they were supposed to hate each other. They decided that names mean nothing. It doesn't matter what name Juliette has or what name Romeo has. Whatever name they might have, they are just as sweet.
