Question:

What did people think about Amy's poems?

Amy Lowell

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

She was reasonably well-regarded among the Imagist poets of her time. In recent years, criticism has focused on her lesbianism, which unfortunately seems to have eclipsed the qualities of her actual poetry for the purposes of academic discourse.

Her poetry, in general, has not aged well. It's important in context (the Imagist movement), but it does not make for especially rewarding reading today. Well, that's not completely true -- some of her better poems are worth reading. But much of her work comes off as pretentious and self-important in my opinion. Ezra Pound's work from the same period has many of the same problems.
