How do u write this line of the poem?

i am saying "together under the scorching sun, around the track we made" . does it sound like i am trying to say - we made it around the track ? because i need to make the last word, rhyme with aid.

It sounds like it was the track you made, not that you successfully completed the run. I would have said it a bit different and added another layer of meaning.

"Together under the scorching, we made our life's trade.
