a black cat cirlces my bed at night
with eyes of green and yellow
and when she breathes upon my neck
my body turns to jello
she's quick to pounce, but slow to retreat
she knows just what I need
although she digs her claws in deep
my wounds refuse to bleed
the pain is intense and I choke back a tear
to conceal any signs of weakness
instead I avoid her scornful eyes
and stare into a world of bleakness
as quickly as she entered my room
she makes her exit faster
without me even realizing
she has become my master.
