Your opinions about my poem please?
This is something I wrote in a song format-but this is heart-felt.I'm 16 and an amateur.Is it absolute crap or is it any good?I'd appreciate your honest opinions,but please don't tell me to give up poetry,because I love it and am not gonna do that:-)
Meant To Be
I still wonder how it all came to be
Could so much really be meant for me?
I still remember how you lit my world up
Suddenly everything has started looking up.
I don??t really care what they all think
You held me up— I was about to sink
It??s plain enough for the world to see
That you and I are meant to be.
I still wonder if I am dreaming it all
I am flying so high—afraid I??d fall
But if you??ll be there to catch hold
I??m willing to fall from a height ten-fold.

I think your writing is beautiful, it sounds like a song...but if you want to shine as a poet remember to study the Art of Poetry, and the great poets. The key rule in poetry is to show, not tell. You are doing a lot of telling, the way to hook your reader is to use catch words- descriptive, lead the reader in a slow trance...just give them enough to keep wanting more. Poetry should sound like a puzzle, and as the reade figures it out they start to smile.
Ex: Don't say ...It is raining, instead say... As I look to the darkened sky, raindrops as refreshing champagne sporadically bounce across my face and body.
Just keep studying, learn the different styles of poetry and remember to write about your heart, and be unique to be set apart from everyone else. You are already a good writer, just stay positive and continue to write. Remember to use a Thesaurus and choose different words, or google a rhyming dictionary to help you. All writers use writing tools to help them.
