Any advice for someone wanting to be an art teacher?

i want to be a tacher... in specifically a art teacher.. a high school art teacher. i not sure really what to do to prepare for it though.. im still in high school, a junior... but im not sure if i should take some extra classes or something.. and if so, what kind. and does anyone know of any good colleges for an art teacher?? what would i major in?? something with art?? or teaching?? please help if you can. thank you.

Take all the art classes you can now, especially try things that you might not be as interested inor think you would be good at, get the broadest base possible.
In college you will probably want to major in secondary education and minor in some field of art.
I'm encouraging you to try as many types of art as possible now so that:
1. you may discover the area or areas you want to concentrate on in college
2.. getting outside of your comfort zone in trying new things you will be better able to understand some hesitation expressed by students
