people fire back with such outrage like as if some holy sacred important institution is being slagged

People just get on the defensive of these things because we (Australia as well as Canada, USA) are a nation of fatties! People are disgustingly overweight because of the easy options they take yet they don't want easy options taken from them. God forbid they had to go home and actually cook a meal for the kids or even worse walk to the shop and carry home the groceries!
