Being able to think creatively and "outside the box"
Some of the above answers really irritate me. They are written by people who clearly think that art is separate from everyday life and unimportant, in reality we are constantly surrounded by it. Studying within the field of art is not useless. Art students are often individuals who seek to understand the world around them a little better and aren't content with a nine to five monotonous job where they spend their whole lives making someone else rich.
