Question:

Books/Films/Comics/Painti... that changed society?

Are there any throughout history thta have changed the way society worked, or at least affected the conscious of the people? I know there are some, and I can name quite a few for every one of the above. But what are the first few that jump into your mind?

People aren't too good at thinking of paintings either. Must never have taken Art History.

It's probably obvious but since comics haven't been mentioned, I'd like to add the development of superheros such as Superman and Batman. They've certainly had an impact on social ideals (role models, etc), social norms, and the perception of delinquency, especially in the US.

For fine art, I always think of contextual shockers, ideas that challenged social thought, like Manet's Olympia and Duchamp's Fountain
