It's really all a matter of degree. Even a highly structured, individually determined piece of art must, in the end, be intrepreted or consumed by an observer, who, more often than not, will generate a personal reaction that is often a bit idiosyncratic, if not bizarre. (Whenever I hear the odd interpretations that people read into poetry or song lyrics, I am breathless with amazement, if not astonishment). |
