How about a small bottle of a special liqueur or brandy if he likes that? Gift certificates to coffee shops are always good. Consider some knick knack for his car or for one of his hobbies. Or a gift certificate to a store like Home Depot or Lowe's. Or one of the latest gadgets in tools if you know he doesn't have it. Do you know him well enough to call a family member for suggestions?
