Brazil is absolutely beautiful, lots of natural beauty. Crime is outrageous, making it very difficult to want to live there...Great to visit,but not too good to live there, economy is horrible, overcrowding, high unemployment, and lots of poor and homeless people....but again, to visit and spend dollars converted to reais is a real treat....if you're talking about the movie, sorry, haven't seen it....want to take a sneak peek at the real Rio de Janeiro, watch the movie "City of God".
As a brazilian who has lived here over 35 years, I can tell you that, that is a very real look at the other side of town, the one tourists hardly get to see.
