Is bagpiping a dying art?

My best friend(female) when I lived in Inverness was a piper in a local but excellent pipe band. Her family is from the Highlands and they keep up Scottish traditions. Her daughter also does Highland dancing. There are younger members in the band but most were 40's and over.. it does take a lot of practice and dedication. i think a lot of younger Scots look on it as old fashioned. Her father is a very traditional Scotsman...and I think her family likes to hold up with Scottish tradition. Which I think is admirable.
