Question:

A title for my story?

I have written a short story/novel that is in need of a title. It's set around 1870. A seventeen year old white man dreams of being a teacher, and is granted his wish to hold a temporary teaching job in a negro village. (Remember this is shortly after the Emmancipation Proclamation). At this village, he deals with racism from both sides: a negro man who does not want him in the village, and a small group of whites who cause trouble for the village and anyone who tries to help or befriend them. I am not good at coming up with story titles, so if anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear them. Additional story details:
Name of village: Freedom
Name of teacher: Daniel

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

1. Rise Above the Clouds - because I'm assuming that Daniel "rose above the clouds" of racism...

2. Trip to Freedom - because the name of the village is Freedom and it seems like Daniel would make the trip, not only to the village, but of freedom from racism.

3. Beyond the Edge - because Daniel went "beyond the edge" of racism

4. Race to Freedom -because...well...you get the idea. lol. :)

Oh, I also like the "Teaching Freedom" because it's not only teaching the concept of freedom to the people, but it's also teaching the students in Freedom, and Daniel is showing town of Freedom what freedom is about. lol are you confused yet? I think I am....hehe.
