Question:

Sitting for a major exam at the end of next year and I'm not a very organised/motivated/smart student. HELP!!!

I need help right away.

I'm siting for a major examination at the end of next yr.
I'm not very neat. Nor motivated. Nor studious.

But I know I need help and when the new term starts in two weeks (after 2 months) I want people to think of me as an efficent and hard-working person.

The state of my room and all affects how I study. And now it looks like a pig sty. Can anyone help me give my room a revamp by telling me what goes where so I can be organised and motivated? How do I motivate myself constantly while studying? Any advice on how to do better at school?

The major exam is next yr and I hope my 'change' will help be do really well, at least to prove otherwise to all those who think I'm not capable or worth a good future. I've always been the 'bad person' who everyone ignores, blames and laugh

Any tips?
What goes where, or a log/journel method I can use to be on par with what I do? Any tips you've picked up that would be of help for me?

Thanks for your time

Organization: Go to an office supply store or something and get lots of cool stuff. Containers for pens, folders for loose papers, labels, funky pens and highlighters, notebooks... Make sure that you have a place for everything and make sure that you always put things in their place. Everything that you usually use while you are working should be within arm's reach of your desk so that things can stay organized.

I like to colour-code my subjects in my notes to make them look nice and so that I can easily tell what's what. I use black pen for all my main notes, but titles and dates are in certain colours for certain subjects. Always date your work so that you know when it's from and you can put it in order if it gets messed up.

Motivation: I use notebooks to motivate me to go to class all the time. I don't want to miss a class because the neatness of my notebook will get messed up by having to copy notes in later. It also helps so that I don't lose anything.

While you're studying, give yourself a list and schedule out your work using a daytimer. It feels really good to cross something off your list. And reward yourself by giving yourself nice little breaks or treats for productive study time. (Be honest with yourself) Start with small segments, like 10 minutes of solid work at a time and work your way up to longer time periods. (Kind of like working out) Be realistic with yourself. Don't set impossible goals or you will only be disappointed and lose motivation. Start small.

I hope this helps! Good luck!
