The Crucified Serpent

Brazen serpent on a cross of wood
Why do you exist in that position?
??I heal all those poisoned who could
Look upon my image to heal their condition.??

Black serpent and cross of ink
Why were you placed on a page?
??I hold mysteries to all who think
They understand the word of a sage.??

Black serpent and cross of ink
Why were you drawn on this flesh?
??To remind you of the link
Shared with family, and memories refresh.??

Black serpent and cross well drawn
Will you ever fail in this endeavor?
??My ink may fade, but never be gone
And I will never fail, my purpose is forever.??

Black serpent and cross of mine
What says that overarching line?
"Behold, this line to help reminisce,
In Memoriam Patris."

The black serpent is the crucified serpent colored by black ink.

I am quite sorry Scarlett, your thoughts are far from mine. The Crucified Serpent itself has a history far older than the Crucifixion. The first stanza is an allusion to the Brazen serpent of Moses. Jesus and Satan, as ideas or personas, are in no way connected with this piece I have written.

Could just be the reference to crucifixion, but I believe you are referring to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. However I do not agree with referring to Him as a serpent. Lucifer is the serpent.
