or does anyone know of a study guide that will help?

Chapter 38 starts with the Lord's comment: "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?" (An echo of Elihu's judgement on Job, in Chapter 36:16.) Hopefully then Job learned the meaning of the word pontification. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Elihu had a degree of widom, but we have Divine comment on his opinion, with the implication to find out for yourself and don't be drawn aside by pomposity and self-righteous know-alls. The wisdom of Job is simply given in Job 42:5+6: He learned that it is the Lord whose word is worth listening to. Job is of course a script to a piece of theatre, which is perhaps up there with Revelations and Ezekiel in time and effort needed to get some sort of grip on what they're about.
