Question:

Important pieces of art?

What are a few (maybe 3 or 4) important pieces of art from all around the world? Please help me because I need this for my project in school so yah thank you a few I that I can think of are; the taj mahal, mona lisa, and Eiffel tower. I don't want the great wall because my teacher thinks we already know so much about it that it would be useless to list it because we wouldn't learn anything new from it since we already know all about it. Ok well thank you!

Here are some alternatives to the other answers. These are just as important and relevant:

1. Edouard Manet's Olympia, 1863: The subject and technique of this painting represents the birth of modernism. The nude is taken to culture shocking extreme when a prostitute is represented, and the flat bold brushstrokes defied convention and called attention to the medium.

2. Terracotta Army, 210 BC: A collection of 8,099 life-size terra cotta figures of warriors and horses located near the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor in China. Maybe you get your teacher to let your class watch the movie "The Emperor and the Assassin" which is about the Qin Emperor. It will probably take all week to watch the whole thing.

3. Lascaux Prehistoric Cave Paintings, 13,000 and 15,000 BC, or as far back as 25,000 BC: Some of the earliest known art. The paintings, drawings, and engravings give insight into the world of early people. It reveals the significance of people living as hunters to survive.
