I guess you could call me a fabric artist. I make quilts, I love to do different things than the norm. A lot of times I'll get an idea from a piece of fabric, or think of something that isn't done, and proceed to make it either out of my minds eye, or plan out with sketches and drawings on paper. A lot of times I make my own patterns. I think a lot of it is determination, (stubbornness) but everything usually works out. (or if it doesn't I make it into something that looks like it's suppose to be that way.)I also have a diversity of things I do. This keeps me from getting bored with one thing. For instance, I carve wood and a lot of other crafts. If I'm making something to sell, I pretend it's mine, (if I don't like it I'll throw it away--have not thrown anything away!) it is mine til I sell (or give away). This gives me the freedom to be creative and care about what I'm doing. Also my Grandmother always said of her crotchet work "I'm just playing" and encouraged me to relax and have fun with whatever was "in that creative mind of mine". Sometimes I do have to take a little break, do something totally unrelated (like make a cake), that gives me time to clear my mind and forget pressure I might put on myself. Hope you can find something in here to help!
