Why has humanity advanced so much in the past 100 years?

Question:

Why has humanity advanced so much in the past 100 years?

Until the late 1700's, technology was advancing pretty slowly. However, in the past 100 years, there were many technologican breakthroughs. TVs, phones, space travel, computers, etc.

We have advanced more between 1900 and 2007 than between 5000 B.C. and 1700 A.D.

Any ideas???????

You are saying the wars could have caused it? There were many wars in history and THEY didn't lead to rapid technological advances...

Technologically yes, but it has led to more destruction!
