How can I tell if an art class (for my daughter, who's 11) is going to be good?

First of all, is your daughter into art? Secondly, do you feel that she has advanced artistic abilities for someone her age? I ask these questions because they play an important role in choosing the right art class for your daughter. If she is not artistically inclined and just wants to do it for fun and to have a good time, you probably shouldn't put her in a "serious" art class for aspiring junior Picassos, because she could feel overwhelmed and maybe intimidated. However, if she really has great potential and her teachers have always said she is a good artist, you should put her in the serious kind of class I just mentioned, because then she can build on her existing talent. Either way, make sure the art teacher is kind and has a good rapport with kids. I am still trying to recover from my art teacher in 3rd grade always singling me out as an example of what not to do!!
