Question:

Is there really any sort of art without coherence?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Salvador Dali has some surrealistic art which you may find to be lacking a "coherent" factor, but I would just call it surrealistic, as all artistic expression lends to some form of coherency, at least by way of the artists intended perspective they wish to display to you, therefore giving way to its coherency.

But I have seen some artistic pieces where I have wondered whether the artist was coherent at the time he/she may have created such art.

If you punch this into your address bar it will lead you to Salvador Dali's Gallery via web-site. But as you will see the titles of his works designate a meaning of his understanding as to such.

If you wish to learn more about him (He was/is my favorite artist), you will find that the coherence behind his art is only measurable by himself alone, but then relayed to you, as his artful expression, so it may not fit into any rational understanding or coherency by its image displayed to, and by you, and then may have no decipherable meaning to you, so then therefore may be incoherent, to you. He had imagination to say the least.
